Hey team,

When we sent out a survey a few weeks ago asking what issues are most important to you and your communities, you told us that your number one issue was overwhelmingly our climate.

That’s why we’re so excited about Governor Murphy’s big announcement! Last week, Governor Murphy announced his new clean energy plan that aims for 100% clean energy by 2035 instead of 2050. That’s 15 years ahead of the original schedule, and 15 years closer to a greener economy.

That’s a big deal – not just for our economy, not just for New Jersey’s natural resources, but also for future generations!

Here’s a quick breakdown of Governor Murphy’s new proposal:

  • Sets a target of installing zero-carbon emission heating and cooling systems homes and businesses across the state by 2030;
  • Puts money back into the pockets of New Jerseyans who choose to switch to electric;
  • Works side-by-side with our natural gas utilities to put forward a comprehensive plan for a future less reliant on fossil fuels;
  • Supports the fast-growing electric vehicle market to ensure that by 2035 all new cars sold in New Jersey will be zero-emission vehicles; and
  • Uses $70 million of New Jersey's proceeds through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative to fund purchases of all-electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks and associated charging infrastructure.

We’re thrilled to see Governor Murphy deliver on his promises, but we’re also proud to have a Governor who just does the right thing. You can read more about the proposal here.

To a greener future,
