Jim Jordan and Committee on Weaponization of Government to Investigate State Department
Washington Examiner: Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL) are vowing to investigate the State Department for bankrolling a “disinformation” tracking group that is, as the Washington Examiner revealed, secretly blacklisting and taking steps to defund conservative media outlets. Republican lawmakers have continued to raise concerns over two State Department-backed entities, the National Endowment for Democracy and the Global Engagement Center, granting $665,000 combined between 2020 and 2021 to the Global Disinformation Index. Now, Jordan and Gaetz are setting their sights on an investigation into this funding through the newly created Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government ( Washington Examiner). Ed Morrissey: Without any data—and indeed without any attempt at engagement—GDI smeared hundreds of conservative sites and writers and attempted to put them out of business. Included in those blacklists were most of Salem Media’s sites—Townhall was rated “reprehensible/offensive,” while others—such as Hot Air—got tagged as “false/misleading” without any evidence. Microsoft has retreated rapidly from GDI after this exposé, but not before the McCarthyist tactic got exposed for what it is—an attempt to deplatform conservatives and punish dissent ( Townhall Review).

Don Lemon Claims Nikki Haley “isn’t in her prime”
Openly misogynistic comments on national television. Washington Examiner: CNN This Morning host Don Lemon took a swipe at Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Thursday, when he said the 51-year-old “isn’t in her prime.” His comments came after Haley, 51, said there should be a mandatory competency test for politicians more than 75 years of age. “This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable,” Lemon began. “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. When a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, and 30s and maybe 40s.” Lemon’s co-host Poppy Harlow was quick to challenge him on his statement. “Prime for what?” Harlow asked. “I think we need a qualifier. Are you talking about prime for, like, childbearing, or are you talking about prime for being president” ( Washington Examiner)? Nikki Haley: Liberals can’t stand the idea of having competency tests for older politicians to make sure they can do the job. BTW it’s always the liberals who are the most sexist ( Twitter). Ed Morrissey: CNN management is very quiet thus far about Lemon and his remarks. Will they even bother to address the ignorance and misogyny? I’d say stay tuned, but hardly anyone bothers to tune in to Lemon already. This demonstrates why ( HotAir).

DOJ Official Warns Against Using Tiktok, Bipartisan Effort to Divest from Social Media Platform
CNBC: A high-ranking official at the Department of Justice on Thursday warned against the use of the popular short-form video app TikTok, due to security concerns stemming from its ownership by a Chinese company, ByteDance. “I don’t use TikTok and I would not advise anybody to do so because of these concerns,” said Lisa Monaco, deputy attorney general at the DOJ, speaking at an event on disruptive technologies by nation-states at the Chatham House in London. She said the concern extends to any company doing business in China that could be subject to such rules, requiring them to turn over data to the Chinese government for alleged national security purposes ( CNBC). Daily Wire: Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) exhorted Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to force the divestment of TikTok from ByteDance, its Chinese parent company. Blumenthal and Moran suggested in a Thursday letter to Yellen that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a board composed of nine cabinet-level officials charged with reviewing the national security implications of foreign investments into American companies, should compel ByteDance to jettison operations for TikTok within the United States ( Daily Wire).

LGBT Groups Attack NYT’s Trans Coverage, Make Demands of the News Outlet
Townhall: Multiple Hollywood celebrities and pro-LGBTQ advocacy groups joined Hollywood gay lobby, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), in torching The New York Times over its recent coverage of trans issues. The letter demanding The New York Times “TAKE ACTION” against this type of reporting in the future, joined another signed by nearly 200 New York Times contributors admonishing the paper for the same reasons. GLAAD alleged that Times reporting has gone against the medical and science community, saying, “Every major medical association supports gender-affirming care as best practices care that is safe and lifesaving and has widespread consensus in the medical and scientific communities. Yet the Times continues to churn out pieces that anti-trans extremists use to harm children and families” ( Townhall). New York Post: The letter, which was hand-delivered to the paper’s Manhattan office by members of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation makes three demands of the paper: 1. Stop printing biased anti-trans stories. 2. Hold a meeting and listen to members of the transgender community. 3. Hire at least four transgender writers and editors within the next three months ( New York Post).

Unvaccinated NYC Teachers Fingerprints Sent to FBI, Files Flagged with Problem Codes
Children’s Health Defense: Unvaccinated New York City teachers were reportedly “flagged” and their fingerprints sent to the FBI, according to an affidavit filed in federal court last week. In the New Yorkers for Religious Liberty Inc. v. The City of New York appeals hearing, challenging the now-rescinded vaccine mandate for city employees, plaintiff’s attorney John Burch said that “flagged” teachers were labeled with “problem codes” that impact their ability to get another job ( Children’s Health Defense). Charlie Kirk: What this basically is, it’s a code on their file. This is used for everything from being rated as an ineffective teacher to being a literal criminal. It’s a catchall term, if you will. So right now it’s not exactly clear what this means in practice, whether this was some sort of innovation or something automatic related to getting to the “problem code” ( Daybreak Daily).

John Fetterman Checks into Hospital for Depression
CNN: Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center “to receive treatment for clinical depression,” his chief of staff announced on Thursday. “On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the Attending Physician of the United States Congress. Fetterman is a freshman senator and was elected in November after suffering a stroke in May of last year ( CNN). Joe Concha: Sen. John Fetterman has checked into Walter Reed, with his office citing “clinical depression.” This marks the second trip to a hospital this month. For the good of his health and family, he should consider stepping down ( Twitter). Clay Travis: John Fetterman has checked himself into the hospital to receive treatment for depression. There’s no shame in men receiving mental health treatment, but I legit feel awful for this guy. He has no business in politics right now, isn’t healthy enough physically or mentally for the job. Just sad this was ever allowed to happen by his family, staff, media & Democrats ( Twitter).

FBI Conducts Searches at University of Delaware in Document Investigation
CNN: The FBI has conducted two searches at the University of Delaware in connection with the investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents. The previously undisclosed searches were conducted in recent weeks, with the consent and cooperation of the president’s legal team, the source said. The library at the University of Delaware, Biden’s alma mater, is home to an extensive collection of papers from the president’s time in the Senate. Investigators retrieved materials from two university locations on two different days. The material did not appear to have classified markings ( CNN). National Review: News that the library was searched by the FBI marks the fourth known location the agency has explored as part of its investigation into Biden’s handling of sensitive government records ( National Review).

Asbury University Continuous Worship Services Inspire Hope for Christians
Fox News: Around-the-clock prayer services that have lingered for a week at a Christian university in Kentucky have drawn national attention as participants have flocked nationwide to experience what some are calling a spiritual revival. Students at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, have engaged in continual worship services in the school’s chapel since Feb. 8, which have reportedly been marked by prayers, worship music, testimonies, altar calls and religious conversions. The movement began after students refused to leave following a chapel service last Wednesday, and the services have since grown to pack the school’s chapel with worshippers from all over the country ( Fox News). Charlie Kirk: Is there a revival breaking out at Asbury University ( Twitter)?
