July was certainly an exceptional month!
It started with the first anniversary of the Australian Space Agency, and was marked by a number of special events to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. For a confessed space junkie like me, it was awesome to be part of the commemorations at the Parkes Radio Telescope, to answer a question in Parliament and to publish a piece on the significance of the event.
Of course, this month also saw the opening of the 46th Parliament and the official swearing-in of all members of the Morrison Government. The first order of business was to pass our promised tax cuts - which are being delivered in full!
As part of the Address-in-Reply to the Governor General, I had the opportunity to talk about the great honour it is to hold the key economic portfolio of Industry, Science & Technology and to thank the people of McPherson, and especially the many locals who worked hard throughout the recent campaign.
I was also pleased to welcome both the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Michaelia Cash to McPherson. As well as local media interviews we had announcements on the M1 upgrade progress, and visited a local business to discuss apprenticeships.
I also chaired a successful Building Minister's Forum in Sydney with my State and Territory counterparts and achieved the outcome of a unified national approach to restoring Building Confidence.
Finally, if you're part of one of our wonderful local school communities - please encourage your school to apply for funding under our new Local Schools Community Fund. It's a great opportunity to get backing for a worthwhile school project.
As always, please feel free to get in touch if there's anything you'd like to discuss.
Kind regards,
