John,
Our country is riddled with rampant, chronic, and racially-motivated educational barriers –
that's a fact. This time, the barriers are being set by a politician who is as crooked as they come.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, a likely 2024 GOP presidential candidate, has banned African American Studies from being taught in high schools across the state. He actually had the nerve to say the course violates state law and “lacks educational value”.
Just take a second to breathe, John...we know sometimes it feels like we're living in an alternate universe.
Every day, we watch as power-hungry politicians mobilize their white supremacist power to try and move us in a direction that discredits critical parts of us. It's truly disgusting.
Our history is always being contested, and this is just a part of a much larger issue at hand.
John, Black Lives Matter PAC is preparing for a big year of fighting white-supremacist politicians – and their threat is growing EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Will you pitch in $5 or more to help fuel our efforts in ensuring we've got candidates willing to protect Black history and education?
Let's remember the larger issue – the buzzword of the past 2 years. Remember how at one point these far-right politicians were not “opposed” to the teaching of Black history, “just” critical race theory? And how many dismissed us when we said these laws were anti-Black?
If we fail to act now, future generations will lack knowledge on the true impact of segregation, the progression of the prison industrial complex, the legacy of the enslavement of Black people, the achievements of the Black Lives Matter movement, and SO much more.
We cannot sit idly by.
So, John, it's time for us to show up and show out to ensure we shut these far-right policies down and work now to prepare candidates who will run and win. Join us in this critical fight. If you're able, take it a step further and become a monthly recurring donor >>
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter PAC
