Here are some updates from today. |
A Georgia special grand jury probing former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election released some of its findings: “No widespread fraud took place in the Georgia 2020 presidential election that could result in overturning that election.” The report also concludes that a “majority of the Grand Jury believes that perjury may have been committed by one or more witnesses testifying before it,” which may result in indictments.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed Senate Bill 4B into law, which will allow statewide prosecutors to prosecute crimes investigated by the Office of Election Crimes and Security. The law takes effect immediately and will impact the prosecutions of formerly incarcerated individuals targeted by DeSantis’ election crimes office.

The nine U.S. Supreme Court justices have a private meeting where they will decide whether to grant cert (meaning, accept an appeal and hear oral argument) for various cases before the Court. There are four democracy-related cases the justices’ will consider tomorrow: Buck v. Reeves, Harness v. Watson, Cox v. Maryland State Board of Elections and Richardson v. Flores.
