John,
Last September, Iranians launched a movement following the tragic murder of Mahsa Amini focused on the principles of Woman, Life, Freedom.
Sadly, many outside of Iran have sought to exploit the sacrifices of ordinary Iranians to advance their own nefarious agendas.
This month, over 160 lawmakers signed on to a resolution extolling Maryam Rajavi's “10-point plan” for Iran and presenting the MEK (Mujahideen-e-Khalq) as a democratic alternative to the Islamic Republic's authoritarianism — when in reality we know they are two sides of the same coin. The lawmakers supporting this resolution, knowingly or unknowingly, are helping the MEK co-opt the democratic aspirations of Iranians inside Iran.
Please take a moment to educate your elected officials in Congress and warn them against signing onto a resolution aimed at exploiting rather than standing with the Iranian people. [[link removed]]
Take Action NoW! [[link removed]] Most lawmakers are unaware of the MEK's history and the standing of this group among Iranians inside Iran. It is vital that they hear the voices of our community who support democratic values and can educate Washington about the complex landscape of Iran and the Iranian diaspora.
Congress needs to hear from you on this, let’s send them a clear message [[link removed]] that Women, Life, Freedom should not be co-opted by those who don’t center Iranian interests and well-being.
Thank you for your support.
