Team, following the news that Secretary of Labor Marty
Walsh is stepping down from his role at the Department of Labor (DOL), we are
urging President Biden to nominate Julie Su as the next Secretary, and we need
your help amplifying our message.
[[link removed]] Here’s why:

Julie Su’s experience as Deputy Secretary of DOL makes her a clear choice to
succeed Secretary Walsh. She has been second-in-command of the Department for the past year and a half,
overseeing the implementation of key labor policies, and will be in the best
position to continue that work throughout President Biden’s term.

She has dedicated her career to fighting for workers’ rights. Previously as Secretary for the California Labor and Workforce Development
Agency and in various roles at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles,
Deputy Secretary Su has worked to address economic inequality and advance
justice for under-represented communities for decades. In fact, one of the cases
she litigated helped spur the passage of AB633, a landmark law that ensured
brand name retailers would be held responsible if the garment workers who sewed
their apparel experienced wage theft.

She is deeply familiar with the systemic barriers faced by low-wage workers and
is a proven fighter for economic justice. Her understanding of the intersections between racism, sexism, and labor
exploitation will bring so much to a role responsible for advancing gender and
racial equality in U.S. workplaces.

In addition to her extensive record of fighting on behalf of America’s workers,
she would be the first AAPI cabinet member of the Biden administration if
nominated. It is a critical time for the leadership of women and people of color in our
country, and Deputy Secretary Su is a leader who will represent and promote
equity, equal opportunities, and inclusion for all.

Julie Su is a passionate and effective advocate for all workers, and she is the
best person to face and tackle critical issues facing workers across the
country. So, will you join us by sending a message to
President Biden to nominate Julie Su as the next Department of Labor Secretary?
