Friend, this is urgent: Only one month into having a Republican-controlled House of Representatives, GOP lawmakers have proposed the Fair Tax Act – a truly frightening plan that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service and impose a 30% national tax on all goods and services.
This national sales tax would do away with income, payroll, estate and gift taxes and would instead hit every single person, regardless of how much they earn, with a blanket tax rate.
Friend, that means everything – rent, groceries and other basic necessities – would be subject to the same heavy tax.
You may be wondering who could possibly benefit from this plan. The answer, of course, is the wealthy.
By shifting the tax system from income to consumption, the wealthy will actually see their taxes reduced while everyday working families – who spend all or nearly all of their income on goods and services to keep themselves afloat – will bear the burden of this tax hike.
This plan is a danger to the livelihoods of average Americans, and we CANNOT allow this plan to gain traction in Congress. That's why, before 11:59 p.m. tonight, we need to collect 5,000 responses to our flash poll.
So please, friend, tell us now:
