Gov. Evers Delivers Radio Address on Budget Message

Audio File of Radio Address.

MADISON ? Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address highlighting his priorities he shared last night in his 2023-25 Biennial Budget Message.

Hey there, Governor Tony Evers here.

Yesterday, I was proud to deliver my third Biennial Budget Message as the 46th governor of the great state of Wisconsin.

I shared our agenda for the next two years together, as we begin this biennium in the best fiscal position we?ve ever been in, in our 175-year statehood.

This is a budget about solutions, not wish lists. This is a budget about pragmatism, not politics. This is a budget about getting back to the basics and doing the right thing.

The focus of our budget is bolstering our workforce, maintaining our economy?s momentum, and supporting kids and families.

We?re making sure our infrastructure is prepared to support a workforce and economy for the 21st Century.

I?m delivering on my promise of a 10-percent, middle-class tax cut while providing $1.2 billion in targeted tax relief to help working families afford rising costs.

And we?re expanding access to quality, affordable child care with a first-of-its-kind Wisconsin Paid Family Leave Program because doing what?s best for our kids is what?s best for our state?and what?s best for our families and our workforce, too.

As a governor who?s also a grandfather, I am also calling on the Legislature to join me in doing what?s best for our kids by approving the largest increase for K-12 schools and education in the state?s history.

I promise you this: in this budget, there?s more that unites us than divides us. These aren?t Republican or Democratic priorities?they?re Wisconsin priorities, areas where we should be able to find common ground.

We have so much work to do and so much we can accomplish if we?re willing to work together. And I know that together we will.

Let?s get to work, folks.
