It is time to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.
Last week, I participated in a discussion with experts from the Heritage Foundation and former Trump Administration officials on Mayorkas’s failure to protect our Nation and end the crisis on our southern border. Mayorkas has repeatedly lied to Congress, intentionally spread falsehoods about CBP agents, and unlawfully canceled contracts and programs that were enacted into law by Congress to help end this border crisis. The Secure the Fence Act of 2006 requires DHS to have operational control of the border.
Under his leadership, DHS has not only failed to achieve operational control of the border, but they have created the worst humanitarian crisis in recent memory. Furthermore, Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution states that the federal government must protect states from invasion. Not only has Mayorkas failed to do so, he uses taxpayer dollars to actively aid and abet the cartels perpetuating the invasion. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; if you could design a framework for border security that best supports the cartels’ operation, it would be the one currently implemented by the Biden administration.

In the meantime, this week I took an important step to empower local law enforcement as they keep our communities safe from criminal cartels.
The Biden/Mayorkas regime’s unwillingness to enforce our immigration laws continues to benefit criminals while harming law-abiding Americans. That is why I reintroduced H.R. 998, the 287(g) Program Protection Act. This crucial bill would ensure state and local officials are able to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain and deport criminal illegal immigrants by strengthening ICE’s 287(g) program.
The 287(g) program has helped local law enforcement secure and protect their communities by allowing them to serve as a “force multiplier” for an already stretched-thin ICE. Through this program, state and local law enforcement agencies can apply to work with ICE, allowing local law enforcement to help ICE detain and remove criminal illegal immigrants residing in the U.S.
Despite the benefits of this program, the Biden/Mayorkas regime has refused to approve any new application, placing the program on pause. The 287(g) Program Protection Act would ensure that the Administration processes and approves new applications for the 287(g) program within 3 months, does not deny or terminate an existing agreement without a compelling reason, and works to recruit the participation of additional law enforcement agencies.

Protecting the lives of the pre-born must be a priority in Washington.
Two weeks ago, I introduced a bill to combat the Biden administration’s use of taxpayer dollars to provide abortion at the VA. On Friday, I will be introducing another bill with Senator Lankford (R-OK) titled the Women’s Health and Public Safety Act. This bill gives states the authority to exclude abortion providers, like Planned Parenthood, under their state Medicaid plan. Under current law, states are required to allow any qualified provider to participate in a state’s Medicaid system. This cannot continue, and I urge this bill’s immediate consideration.
When I first introduced the bill last Congress, the purpose was to fix a loophole in the law. However, in a post-Roe v. Wade America, states can once again limit abortion how they see fit, and this bill will give them a key tool to do so. Rest assured that I will continue to fight for life in Congress.

- I am currently monitoring the East Palestine disaster in Ohio as well as the three additional "aerial threats" that were shot down this week. These are wholly unacceptable and those responsible must be held accountable.
