This is a dynamic time for FairVote. Just this month, we’ve added four new staff members and promoted three more! We’re also continuing to hire and would love your help identifying candidates – please keep reading to learn more about these positions! As we ride an unprecedented wave of momentum for state legislation on RCV, these new hires will help us make the most of it.
As our team expands, we are also updating our office space to meet our evolving needs. That’s why on March 1, we’re moving to Silver Spring, Maryland! Our new address will be:

Terrance Carroll is an attorney and was the first African-American to serve as Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. His extensive legislative and legal experience will be a tremendous asset to our organization. He is joining us as Senior Fellow for Voting and Democracy, where he’ll advocate for state voting rights acts and other reforms that protect every American’s constitutional rights. |

| Angela Gabel is an attorney with an extensive background in voting rights law and ranked choice voting implementation. In the past few years, she helped the City of Eastpointe, Michigan implement proportional RCV for the first time to comply with the Voting Rights Act and ensure all Eastpointe residents have a voice in their government. As our Senior Policy Counsel, she’ll be an integral part of our work helping states and cities with RCV legislation and implementation. |

Marissa Miller comes to us with a background leading development and communications efforts at social justice and political organizations in New York City and California. Her new role as FairVote’s Director of Major Gifts will focus on strengthening our relationships with existing donors and forging new ones, making sure we have the resources we need to improve elections for everyone. |

And just this week, we’re excited to welcome Carmen Horne as our Social Media Associate! Carmen brings nearly a decade of experience in communications strategy and development, community engagement, and social media management. Carmen's love language is data analysis and she's thrilled to join the team full-time after serving as a contractor. |

Communications Director Ashley Houghton has been promoted to Senior Director of Programs and Policy, overseeing the work of our Communications, Research, Advocacy, and Government Affairs teams.
Ashley joined FairVote in March 2020 with a background in strategic communications, coalition-building, and advocacy, including work with Amnesty International USA and ReThink Media. |

Press Secretary Will Mantell has accepted a role as Interim Communications Director. As a former employee of the New York City government and advisor for candidates in the city’s first-ever ranked choice voting elections, he knows the ins and outs of RCV and will guide our work to share them with the world! |

Last but not least, our graphic designer Anna Robinson – creator of the lovely graphics you may have seen on our websites and materials – has just transitioned from part-time to full-time! From social media graphics to reports and videos, Anna’s work helps make election reform accessible and easy-to-visualize for all voters! |

FairVote is hiring!
The changes won’t stop there, though. We’re also hiring for a number of brand-new positions that will be crucial to advance our work on repairing our broken democracy.
Our Director of Human Resources will plan and manage FairVote’s culture, health, and welfare plans and ensure employees are developed and supported.
The Evidence and Learning Manager will undertake applied political economy analysis (PEA) and stakeholder mapping to inform theories of action. They will also undertake learning-focused, participatory evaluations and case studies, and collect and analyze real-time progress data to inform learning and adaptation.
Our Executive Assistant will manage the day-to-day tasks of the CEO and COO in an efficient manner. This includes budget, scheduling, communications, selected events planning, Board of Directors support, and other projects.
The Finance Manager is an integral member of a two-person Finance team supporting our growing organization of 30+ employees. The Finance Manager is responsible for managing budgets, grants accounting, grants management, and other nonprofit financial and administrative operations.
The Grants Manager will be responsible for finding and managing institutional funding relationships and opportunities for FairVote, and writing polished proposals and reports to raise and sustain grant revenue.
The Lani Guinier Voting Rights Fellow will join the Research and Policy team and will conduct quantitative analysis relating to voting rights and the case for proportional ranked choice voting. The ideal candidate will have experience with statistics and modeling, and an interest in voting rights.
