[1]Cori Bush

We need environmental justice now.

This week’s train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio is an environmental
and ecological crisis. With dead fish floating atop nearby streams, family
pets dying, and residents reporting an uptick in symptoms associated with
exposure to toxic chemicals, the harmful impact of this event won’t be
known for years to come.

Let us be clear: We cannot go on like this.

Cori’s doing the work on Capitol Hill and on the ground in our community
to understand first-hand what we need in order to deliver environmental
justice — and there is a way forward.

We need investments in infrastructure like comprehensive lead pipe
replacement, restoration efforts to declining habitats in wetlands and
water sources, and new programs to make the efficient energy we have more
affordable. We need to ensure that corporations stop prioritizing profits
over our safety — especially in our frontline communities and workplaces.

Environmental justice is racial justice, and Cori is in this fight for
environmental justice for the communities who need it most. [ [link removed] ]If you're
with us, will you make a contribution and help us amplify Cori’s voice on
environmental issues and help bring climate action and environmental
justice to our communities?

Especially in Black, brown, and indigenous communities, the effects of
environmental injustice and racism are felt every single day. In St.
Louis, Black children are hospitalized with asthma at 10x the rate of
white children, our walls are more likely to be lined with lead paint, and
our neighborhoods can even be flooded with water from radioactive creeks.

The concurrent climate crises we experience every day are of great
magnitude, and that's why Cori is so dedicated to proposing bold solutions
in Congress like:

* The Environmental Justice Mapping and Data Collection Act to bring the
fight to end environmental injustice to communities like St. Louis.
The bill would create and fund a committee to develop detailed
neighborhood maps of environmental risk factors including air quality,
fossil fuel infrastructure, and police violence.
* The Green New Deal for Cities to fund an expansive array of climate
and environmental justice jobs and projects including wind power
procurement, clean water infrastructure, and air quality monitoring.

contribution today? Together, we can ensure Cori's call for swift and bold
action to protect our aging infrastructure, uplift environmental justice,
and protect our communities from environmental racism is heard!
