For 25 years, Common Dreams has been the nonprofit, ad-free, progressive news outlet that millions of people count on daily to cover the issues the corporate media never will.
One of the key reasons we’ve survived while so many other news outlets have gone out of business is our base of recurring monthly donors.
These donors—who chip in anywhere from $5 to $50 a month (and sometimes more)—allow us to plan for the future, invest in long-term projects, and hire staff, knowing that we have a robust and stable base of support behind us.
You may think $18 wouldn’t go very far or mean very much . . . but here’s the beauty of it: When 50 people give just $18, that becomes $900 in our monthly budget. That directly pays a staff writer’s hard work. That’s server costs. That’s website upgrades and innovations. The added stability helps us make sure we can stay focused on our mission.
We simply cannot overstate the importance of monthly donors for our financial stability. That’s why we’re setting a Winter Campaign goal of raising $80,000 and signing up 200 new monthly donors by March 1 to help bolster the monthly revenue stream that is so crucial to our operations.
