We warned you that if Republicans took back the House, they would quickly move to criminalize women and doctors who perform an abortion.
Unfortunately, we were right. Kevin McCarthy and his new GOP-led majority quickly passed a “born alive” bill which threatens doctors with jail time and restricts their ability to deliver abortion-related care.
With Roe v. Wade overturned and no federal protection for abortion rights, a new law like this would have devastating consequences for women in this country.

Josh was a strong no vote in the House, but there simply weren’t enough Democrats to block the bill from passing. Thankfully, we have the democratic votes in the Senate - for now.
But if we don’t take back the House next year, anti-abortion extremists could have total control of both chambers of Congress and maybe even the White House, allowing them to pass terrible abortion restrictions like this.
