John,
Republicans claim they don’t want to cut Social Security in the debt ceiling fight even though they’ve put forward proposals that raise the retirement age to 70 (a cut to Social Security), privatize Social Security (a handout to Wall Street), and even give Congress the opportunity to “sunset” Social Security every five years (potentially ending Social Security).[1]
But while Republicans are busy being dishonest with the American people about their plans to cut our earned benefits, there’s no question where we stand:
We strongly support legislation just introduced in the Senate to increase Social Security’s modest benefits and extend the lifespan of the trust fund by 75 years so that it can pay everyone their full benefits. The bill, introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders, does this by lifting the payroll tax cap on everyone earning over $250,000―currently people don’t have to pay the Social Security tax on wages above $160,200. That means that millionaires and billionaires will finally start paying their fair share into Social Security.
Show your support for Bernie Sanders’ new bill to expand Social Security. Add your name and become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Social Security Expansion Act of 2023 today.
While Republicans claim the only way to save Social Security is to cut benefits, we know that when the wealthy start paying their fair share, we can expand benefits and extend the lifespan of the trust fund for decades to come.
Thank you,

John,
At a time when congressional Republicans have proposals to cut, privatize, and even “sunset” Social Security, we’re fighting back.[1] And, the best defense is a good offense.
That’s why our champion in the Senate, Bernie Sanders, has introduced a new bill that would expand Social Security benefits for millions of Americans while extending the Social Security trust fund by at least 75 years so it can pay full benefits to everyone.
Add your name to become a grassroots co-sponsor of Bernie Sanders’ Social Security Expansion Act of 2023!
Sen. Sanders’ new bill would increase Social Security’s modest annual benefits by $2,400, increase Cost of Living Adjustments to more accurately measure the spending patterns of seniors, increase the Special Minimum Benefit to help low-income workers stay out of poverty, and more.
Senator Sanders’ bill is completely paid for by lifting the payroll tax cap on anyone earning over $250,000―currently people don’t have to pay the Social Security tax on wages above $160,200. That means that millionaires and billionaires will finally start paying their fair share into Social Security!
Instead of cuts and privatization, we’re demanding Congress increase Social Security’s modest benefits and extend the Trust Fund for current and future generations. Click here to add your name as a grassroots co-sponsor of Bernie Sanders’ Social Security Expansion Act today!
Together, we’re demanding the wealthy pay more of their fair share. When they do, we can protect and expand Social Security for decades to come.
Thank you,
