John,
I’m reaching out to ask if you are willing to re-commit as a member of DSA.
We appreciate your membership in Houston DSA, and would be deeply grateful for your continued support as we fight together to improve material conditions in our city. Our organizing takes many forms:
- our coalition work to end the undemocratic nature of local infrastructure spending,
- Abortion Fund-a-Thons in response to the overturn of Roe v. Wade,
- our solidarity with the three unionized/unionizing Starbucks in the Houston area,
- sending the next generation of union organizers to a statewide labor summit,
- education and canvassing in support of Medicare For All in the 29th Congressional District,
- emergency food distribution following the 2021 winter freeze.
By renewing your membership, you’re also granting Houston more delegates to the DSA National Convention this August! We are awarded a delegate for every seventy members in good standing, so your participation in the chapter means HDSA has a greater voice in the country’s largest socialist organization.
If you'd like to resume your membership, please visit dsausa.org/join and make sure to select "Renewal" when asked whether you're registering a new membership or a renewal.
Only the monthly membership plans allocate funds to our local chapter. If you’re able, we would greatly appreciate it if you signed up for the monthly plan to support our local organizing work.
Houston DSA is happy to sponsor memberships if cost is a barrier. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Just reply to this email with the information requested on dsausa.org/join and we will submit the application for you.
If you're not interested in renewing your membership, please know that you are always welcome at any of our meetings and events!
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding our local work, the national organization, or the renewal process.
In Solidarity,
Emily, Communications Secretary
