Friend,

The last time Joni Ernst ran for Senate, the candidates spent $23.9 million on the race. That seems like a lot, but outside groups spent a whopping $44.6 million.

That's the impact of Citizens United -- which turns 10 years old today. In that pivotal case, the Supreme Court decided money was the same as speech (it's not) and affirmed that corporations have the freedom to utilize their first amendment right without limitations for political means.

Since then, elected officials have become unaccountable to their constituents like never before, and corporate money has flooded our elections.

Citizens United has eroded the foundation of our democracy. It's time to change that.

If elected, I will pass the most robust campaign finance reform laws that this country has ever seen. We can get this country working for the people again. I just need your help making it happen. Can you chip in $20.20 to help me fight for campaign finance reform?

There are thousands of problems plaguing our communities, like millions of Americans living without health insurance, an entire generation suffering unbearable student loan debt, and the constant threat of gun violence to our loved ones.

All of these issues are being swept under the rug because politicians in Washington are bought and sold by the corporations perpetuating these problems. But we can stop them by cutting off their revenue stream. To do that, we need to elect progressives dedicated to that job.

I pledge to never take a dime from special interests or corporations, to use the powers of my office to undo this terrible ruling that's flooded our elections with corporate influence and to bring power back to the people of Iowa. A pledge that Joni Ernst will never make.

Friend, with your help, I know that we can reform our campaign finance system and stop the influence of money in our government. Can you chip in $20.20, or whatever you can, to join our campaign for Senate?

Thanks for joining the fight,

Eddie Mauro
