We're heading into a tough season, John:

* We're defending Democratic seats in 20 states – including eight states that Trump won or narrowly lost in 2020.
* But Mitch McConnell just needs to flip TWO seats red to take back the Senate and push his far-right agenda.
* And now, the election experts at FiveThirtyEight are warning that Republicans already have "a clear path to retaking the Senate."


All of that is pretty concerning. But what really keeps me up on nights like tonight is that this fight that we're in is about so much more than which party is in power. It's about the future of our democracy, our civil rights, and the type of leaders we want. It's about what we're leaving for the next generation. As my friend Joe Biden would say, we're truthfully locked in a "battle for the soul of the nation."
