At the beginning of this year, we asked you to take our 2023 Priorities
Survey to ensure our movement’s goals continue to be aligned with yours.
We’re happy to say that they are.

The top three priorities from thousands of respondents were:

 1. Addressing climate change and the Green New Deal
 2. Protecting voting rights
 3. Passing Medicare for All

60% of respondents selected addressing climate change and passing the
Green New Deal as a top priority for the year. Last term, Alexandria
reintroduced the Green New Deal, with a record 104 co-sponsors in the
House, and fought to pass the Inflation Reduction Act — our largest
investment ever with $369 billion in funding to fight climate change. The
Green New Deal also served as a guiding framework for over 60
federally-funded community projects – spanning Hawaii to Vermont – which
will create green jobs, increase renewable energy, and strengthen our
climate resiliency.

57% selected voting rights as a top priority. When Republicans and
obstructionist Democrats like Senators Manchin and Sinema stood behind the
racist filibuster last cycle — effectively blocking two voting rights
bills that would not only protect Americans right to vote, but also expand
access to vote-by-mail and advance automatic voter registration —
Alexandria didn’t wait to call them out.

And 53% of survey respondents selected passing Medicare for All as a top
priority. Alexandria has highlighted how vast, systemic inequalities that
were growing pre-COVID only became worse during the pandemic, saying: “We
have long been taking about how healthcare should be treated as a human
right in the United States, why we need Medicare for All, and this is one
huge case study as to why this is so important.” Since starting her 3rd
term in January, she has already introduced legislation to expand Medicare
to include dental, hearing, and vision care, as well as a bill to require
federal healthcare to cover access to abortion services.

Alexandria's dedication to protecting voting rights, taking urgent action
to stop the climate crisis, and guarantee healthcare to all has never
waivered. This year, our campaign is focused on growing the grassroots,
on-the-ground work needed to keep up pressure on Congress and the Biden
administration to pass urgent legislation that protects working people and
families.
