Democrats are responsible for a record number of new jobs, lowering the cost of life-saving medication under Medicare, and ensuring Americans even in the most rural places have access to high-quality internet. Meanwhile, this Valentine’s Day, the House GOP are celebrating by threatening to undermine Social Security and other key social safety nets.
John: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps—we know that millions of Americans rely on these programs to pay for necessities. In the richest country on earth, no hardworking family should have to struggle to make ends meet.
But that’s exactly what many of my Republican colleagues are angling for. In the last month since they took the House, they’ve done nothing but pass hateful bills with no chance of becoming law, launch ridiculous partisan investigations, and fight amongst themselves.
The only solution is to defeat the GOP by flipping the House, holding the Senate, and retaining the presidency in 2024.
