Sens. Whitehouse, Cassidy reintroduce RISEE Act
Last week, the RISEE Act was reintroduced into the Senate by Sen.
Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA). The Reinvesting
in Shoreline Economies and Ecosystems Act would create a revenue-sharing
model for offshore wind energy, in addition to other funding mechanisms
for shoreline-based organizations.
CCL has supported the RISEE Act since its initial introduction in 2021,
and we're excited to see it reintroduced with such strong bipartisan
support in this Congress.
"CCL appreciates the leadership of Senators Whitehouse and Cassidy in
reintroducing the RISEE Act. Each year, climate change brings greater
harms to our coastal communities and habitats," said CCL's Vice
President of Government Affairs, Ben Pendergrass. "The RISEE Act would
establish a much-needed source of funding from offshore wind development
to protect our shorelines. We urge Congress to take action on this
important bill."

Featured Chapter: CCL San Diego
Over the last few years in San Diego, a Building Electrification
Coalition has been increasing in popularity. The San Diego CCL chapter
leader, Carl Yaeckel, subscribed to all the mailing lists of
environmental groups in the County, sharing information that he's
gathered with other chapter members. Carl and others reached out to the
Coalition to invite a speaker to their chapter.
Now the San Diego CCL chapter, as well as the North County CCL chapter,
are members of the Building Electrification Coalition. The coalition
meetings once a month, so chapter members attend the coalition meetings
on behalf of the chapter, and report back with more information.
