Senator Bernie Sanders is calling a Pharma CEO to testify before Congress about his company’s plan to price-gouge the American people.

Here’s what’s going on:

Development of the COVID vaccine marketed by Moderna was almost entirely funded by American taxpayers — to the tune of some $1.7 billion.

The government then bought millions of doses of that vaccine from the company for $26.36 per dose.

As a result, Moderna made more than $19 billion in *profits* over just the past two years.

And the company’s CEO, Stéphane Bancel, has himself become a multi-billionaire, with a net worth estimated at $5.8 billion.*

Then, just a few weeks ago, Bancel announced that Moderna plans to more than quadruple the price of the vaccine — to as much as $130 per dose.

Again, the American people paid for the development of this vaccine in the first place.

Naming Moderna the “poster child” for Big Pharma’s greed, Senator Bernie Sanders said he hopes the company “will reconsider this outrageous decision and decide not to raise prices for the vaccine.”

Let’s send Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel a message before he testifies in Congress:

You have some nerve threatening to jack up the price of a vaccine the American people funded the development of in the first place. When you testify before Congress, you should commit to selling the vaccine at cost going forward. And you should think about how rich you already got because of a global pandemic that has killed millions of human beings.
