However you celebrated, I hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day!

As my kids have gotten older, they’ve taken on the responsibility of doing
something special for me on holidays (yes, they’re the best). And growing
up in a single parent household, that often means their thoughtful
gestures happen with little adult oversight. 

One of my favorite memories is of them making me homemade waffles. 

Now, you might look at this picture and think they forgot the non-stick
spray. But in fact, this is what happens when you mistakenly put pancake
batter in a waffle maker.

Nonetheless, I so appreciated their attempt at making me breakfast. And a
valuable life lesson about reading the fine print was learned!
