New Mexico’s Democratic Attorney General Raúl Torrez made abortion rights a centerpiece of his 2022 campaign, and he’s lived up to that promise. AG Torrez has sued cities that are working to ban abortion, citing that reproductive care is protected under the state constitution’s Equal Rights Amendment. Yeah, you read that right: Individual counties and cities are trying to ban abortion.
