Our athletes are leading the charge and using their voices to advocate for funding to make the world a more inclusive place for today and beyond. It’s an exciting week for Special Olympics and me.

As a Special Olympics athlete from the great state of Maine, I am traveling to our nation’s capital to do something important: share our message of inclusion with Members of Congress and ask them to support people with intellectual disabilities (ID).  

Tomorrow is Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C. and I’ll be joining 250 of my fellow athletes, family members, and supporters to advocate for the rights of people with ID.

Athletes, just like me, will lead hundreds of meetings with Members of Congress and remind them why Special Olympics is so important. Why is it so important? My fellow athletes and I are speaking up about the stigmas we face, especially when it comes to health care and education.
