The authors created a novel database of real estate investment trust (REIT) investments in US nursing homes and combined it with Medicare cost data
from the period 2013–19 to examine the effect increased REIT investment in nursing homes on staffing hours of licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants and registered nurses in years 2 and 3 after an initial investment.
