John, Senator Dianne Feinstein
just announced she won’t run for another term in the U.S. Senate. She’s
had a remarkable career serving our state, and the path she created for
women in politics is one that I am proud to follow.

Senator Feinstein was elected in 1992, which was dubbed the ‘year of the
woman.’ The year prior, there were just two women serving in the United
States Senate. Senator Feinstein was elected alongside California’s former
Senator Barbara Boxer, and would go on to be a leader in passing the
assault weapons ban and exposing torture at Guantanamo Bay.

In 2018 when I first ran for office, 255 (!) women ran in important races
up and down the ballot, all across the country. My freshman class in
Congress included 36 women. While many of us were inspired to run in
opposition to Donald Trump, women leaders like Senator Feinstein helped
blaze a path for us to follow.

I appreciate all Senator Feinstein has accomplished for our state. Now,
the race for California’s Senate seat is officially heating up. [ [link removed] ]Any

reaching voters, and preparing for the tough race ahead.
