Today is a landmark day for our democracy. For only the third time in our country’s history, the Senate will begin a formal impeachment trial.
Each and every Senator took an oath to act as a fair and impartial juror during this trial. The coming weeks will test their commitment to fairness, justice and respect for the rule of law.
New Jersey’s Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker have committed to doing everything in their power to protect the sanctity of our Constitution and stand up for our values by holding President Trump accountable for his blatant corruption and betrayal of our nation. But many Republican leaders have made it clear that they have no interest in doing the same.
We need elected officials at all levels of government who will put the Constitution above their own political gain -- elected officials we can trust to do the right thing when our Democracy is on the line.
