Friend,
Today, the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United vs. FEC turns 10. This marks a truly sad day in American politics and a decade of corporate greed influencing our political system. A focus of this campaign is rebuilding the grassroots power that Citizens United unraveled, which is why I’m reaching out today.
Last week, my campaign launched a goal to raise $10,000 before midnight on today’s anniversary to prove that when teams like the Morse Force band together, grassroots power can overtake a decade of corporate corruption. Now, we have $1,730 left to go. Can we count on you to chip in?
Unfortunately, Congressman Neal’s been one of the few winners in this new political order that puts corporations above people. While he’s cozied up to lobbyists from Big Pharma, the fossil fuel industry, and insurance giants, I’ve been busy working with people who share the same vision as me: A society where our politics are clean of corporate influence, people are put above profit, and democracy gets a fighting chance again.
Those collaborators include the folks at Justice Democrats and the national Indivisible movement, who have both endorsed our campaign—and of course, the Morse Force, the people I’m fighting to serve.
Over the last decade, our outcomes have declined, wages have flatlined, and healthcare costs have skyrocketed. And as Congressman Neal has strayed ever farther from the First District’s needs, it’s time for us to move on, too: to a new chapter, where people on the ground have a seat at the table again.
If you believe in our fight to take on corporate power in politics and reclaim our voice at the table, will you chip in to help us meet our goal today? We can win this fight together.
Committed to this fight,
Alex
