Hi John,
Breaking news for climate justice!
Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a $20 billion initiative which will help climate investments reach impacted communities across the nation. This is the first major step towards creating a national green bank.
Dream.Org — along with over 2,500 members — urged the EPA to use $20 billion of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to create a national green bank late last year. Today, we get to celebrate the EPA announcement that $20 billion will go towards a “General and Low-Income Assistance Competition” where the EPA will award several grants to non-profit entities, including community-based lenders and green banks, to get climate funds to the communities that need it most.

Why this is huge:
- It could pave the way for a national green bank to be created — something Dream.Org has been pushing for.
- These grant awards will help remove funding barriers for clean energy projects, allowing them to intentionally target the neighborhoods most in need.
In the coming months, the EPA will be reviewing applications for funding, and the Green For All team will be hard at work supporting the best possible solution. While the EPA’s announcement is great news, Dream.Org truly believes a national green bank would be the most impactful way to create climate equity — and it’s still not too late to demand it.
