John,

Today is the 44th day of 2023. According to the [ [link removed] ]Gun Violence Archive,
there have been 67 mass shootings this year. Last year, there were more
than 640 mass shootings.

Enough is enough.

Today, yet another community is reeling from what has become an all too
common routine in our country. The Michigan State University community
deserves better. We deserve better. Congress must pass a bill to ban
assault weapons to protect our communities.

To do anything less would be doing our communities a massive disservice.
It is time we come together with one collective voice to demand action to
keep our communities safe from these preventable tragedies. [ [link removed] ]Will you
add your name to our petition today to keep assault weapons off our
streets?

We must end the senseless epidemic of gun violence in our country. In 2022
and already in 2023, we’ve been rocked by mass shooting after mass
shooting, grieving for communities all over the nation. Enough is enough.

That’s why last year, the House passed a bill to ban assault weapons — the
first time a bill like this has passed since 1994. And last week, House
Democrats re-introduced the bill at the start of Gun Violence Survivors
Week.

We need to pass the bill ASAP — but despite the bipartisan vote last year,
there will almost certainly be Republicans who will try to stall this
critical legislation.

This is not the time to politicize gun violence — it’s time for action for
all of the survivors, families, and communities who are grieving. It’s
time to commit to keeping our communities safe by keeping assault weapons
off the streets.

[ [link removed] ]Add your name right now to stand with Pramila and show House leadership
that we want a full ban on assault weapons and we won’t stop until it’s
passed.

Thank you for taking action with Pramila today,
