We can’t help but think about love today,
John.

Love for this work, for our community, for our people. We’ve been thinking
about the difference leaders like Cori make when their work is grounded in
love. So, today — on Valentine's Day — a day when people may have their
hearts a little more open than usual, we wanted to share something.

On Election night in 2020, with tears streaming down her face, Cori
delivered a speech, outlining struggles and hardships that too many have
experienced — assuring those that saw themselves in Cori, that this was
our moment.

Above all else, that speech was a love letter. A chorus of “I see you,” “I
am you,” “I love you.” Today, we want to share a portion of the speech, to
remind you that your Congresswoman loves you:

“If you know nothing else, you remember this. Your Congresswoman–elect
loves you.

And I need you to get that, because if I love you, I care that you eat. 

If I love you, I care that you have shelter and adequate safe housing.

If I love you, I care that you have clean water and clean air and that
you have a liveable wage. 

If I love you, I care that the police don't murder you. 

If I love you, I care that you make it home safely, I care that you are
able to have a dignity, and have a quality of life, the same as the next
person, the same as the person who don't look like you, the same as
those that didn't grow up the way that you did, the same as those who
don't have the same socioeconomic status as you.”
