My heart breaks for the victims of the shooting at Michigan State University last night. No thoughts or prayers will ever bring back those who were lost.

To all of the MSU students, staff, faculty, Spartan parents, and the East Lansing community: I am with you in solidarity, and I am so sorry for the pain, fear, and heartbreak you experienced last night.

To all of the first responders from across the state, thank you for putting your lives on the line to protect the East Lansing community.

We do not have to live like this. This is not normal.

As a lawmaker, I will do everything I can to stop something like this from ever happening again.
