On the heels of yet another heartbreaking mass shooting, this time at Michigan State University, and remembering today, the 5 year anniversary of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida – the unfortunate reality is, there has been no end to mass shootings and gun violence in America. With gun extremists in control of the House and the gun lobby doing everything they can to block gun safety reform, we've had more shootings than days so far in 2023 and that's simply unacceptable. Passing gun safety legislation at the federal and state levels is the only way forward. Last year, with a Democratic majority, we passed and signed into law the first major gun control legislation in decades, and we need to keep pushing. The gun violence epidemic in our country has impacted the lives of millions of people. Entire communities are being torn apart, because Republicans continue to do the gun lobby's bidding. The extremist GOP is choosing money over lives, over and over again. We can't keep living like this. In the past 5 years, the students of Parkland have been fierce advocates for gun reform and to spark change, we need collective action. You can stand with them and add your name to call on Congress to stop the gridlock and seriously consider the repercussions of doing nothing when it comes to gun violence. >>> Thank you for doing your part. – Team DelBene |
