FIRST: Robert was elected by the people of California’s 42nd district to be the first openly gay immigrant in Congress, making history and becoming an inspiration and role model for young LGBTQ+ people around the country.

THEN: He got to work on a national level. He cosponsored his first bill to ban elected officials from trading stocks and has been publicly holding House Republicans accountable for spreading misinformation and conspiracies that cost over a million Americans their lives during COVID-19.
