Moon, the humpback whale, recently made her annual 3,000-mile migration south to Hawai’i -- but this year, her journey was different than in previous years. Moon endured a brutal spinal injury, presumed to be a result of a vessel strike, that contorted her spine into an “S” shape and forced her to make her trip without even being able to use her tail. Now, no one has seen Moon since December. We don’t know what kind of ship hit and injured Moon, but the cruise industry is one of the culprits when it comes to whale strikes. It’s up to us to protect whales like Moon from deadly vessel strikes and rampant pollution at the hands of the cruise industry. Donate $27 or more today to protect whales, their habitats, and the planet!
Moon made it to Hawai’i, but her injury kept her from being able to effectively forage for food and keep herself nourished. When she was last seen, Moon was severely emaciated -- and now, researchers believe her to be dead. Even if she survived, she would be in pain, starving, and simply biding time until her suffering is over.
Moon’s devastating story is just one of many. Every year, deadly vessel strikes kill more than 80 whales just off the West Coast alone. Yet one of the offenders -- Big Cruise -- continues its reckless pursuit of profit and whales are paying with their lives. But there’s still hope, Friend -- with supporters like you, we have a chance to make real change to help save these majestic creatures and stop these massive ships from hitting and killing whales and polluting their habitats. But the cruise industry is booming, and whales need your help now more than ever.
Stop Big Cruise from harming and killing more innocent whales. Donate $27 or more by midnight tonight to help us reach our $4,700 goal for whales, our oceans, and the planet!

With tourism skyrocketing even beyond pre-pandemic rates, the cruise industry is thriving -- and spelling disaster for vulnerable blue, fin, and humpback whales. Cruise ships the size of city blocks hurtle through ocean habitats at dangerous speeds and spew toxic byproducts with the potential to severely injure endangered whales like Moon and contaminate their habitats, and even kill whales in direct collisions!
The whales that manage to escape violent deaths still suffer greatly from cruise ships dumping sewage and acidic wastewater directly into their feeding grounds and migration routes! Just as dangerous, the noise pollution these vessels produce can have devastating impacts on whales -- from leading them to feed less to causing so much stress that they can suffer from growth suppression and reproductive problems.
Facing intense noise and water pollution from the cruise industry, endangered humpback whales like Moon are malnourished and being poisoned in their own native waters. And among all that stress, they also have to worry about getting hit and killed by huge ocean vessels like cruise ships coming out of nowhere!
But instead of protecting these vulnerable species for future generations, cruise companies only care about lining their pockets with profits. It’s greedy, it’s careless, and it’s wrong. How long will we let Big Cruise pollute our oceans and put marine life at risk? With the industry skyrocketing, now is the time to act and stop the cruise industry from causing irreparable damage to our planet.
Protect endangered whales and our planet from toxic pollution. Rush your $27 contribution today!

Whales are incredibly intelligent animals, vital to a healthy and functioning ecosystem. These gentle giants help circulate essential nutrients throughout the ocean for phytoplankton, which provide half of the oxygen we breathe and absorb hundreds of thousands of tons of carbon each year. This nutrient flow is crucial for a thriving ocean habitat and human health. Without whales, the very air you breathe is at risk.
So, you see, whales can effectively help curb the effects of climate change! But Big Cruise continues to put profit over the planet, polluting our waters, pumping CO2 into our, and putting our oceans at risk. We can’t stand by and watch while corporate greed wreaks havoc on the health of our planet.
Friends of the Earth is working hard to push back against the cruise industry and its destructive pursuit of profit -- but Big Cruise continues to launch bigger ships that keep on polluting, which is why we need supporters like you to act now before the loss is too great. Your membership gift today will allow us to fight back against Big Polluters and protect whales and our planet for generations to come.
We’re fighting tooth and nail to save our whales, oceans, and planet -- but we can’t win this fight without your help, Friend. Please, will you stand with us and donate $27 or more today and help us reach our $4,700 goal to save vulnerable whales and the planet?
