The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership, in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcomes Patrick Clapp as he presents, “The Disproportionate Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Women in the Workforce.”
Women in the workforce faced steeper job losses and slower job recovery than men across the nation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Patrick will share research prepared using the LEHD program’s Quarterly Workforce Indicators data with breakdowns of which industries were heavily impacted, how the impacts to women differed by state, and what recovery looks like in the latest available data.

Patrick Clapp is an Economist at Chmura Economics & Analytics, a labor market software and consulting firm with locations in Richmond, VA and Cleveland, OH. Chmura’s JobsEQ software and custom consulting studies are trusted by clients across the nation to help them make informed decisions about their labor market. Over the past 9 years with Chmura, Patrick’s work products include workforce supply and demand analyses, targeted industry reports, economic impact studies, and economic forecasts.
He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and government from the College of William and Mary and a master's degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
