We ARE a land of hope and welcome.
I’m so pleased to write to you with some good news!

This past week, a federal judge ordered a temporary injunction against an executive order that allowed state and local governments to refuse the resettling of refugees, finding the policy likely unlawful.

And we’re proud to say that LIRS has been at the forefront of this battle, partnering with other organizations to challenge the administration’s executive order and advocate for refugees and asylum seekers — thanks to you!
"These actions show that Lady Liberty still lifts her lamp beside the golden door, despite illegal efforts to extinguish that flame of compassion for those who need it most," said Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, LIRS President and CEO
This just decision signals that most Americans still believe that we live in a land of hope and welcome — a sanctuary where dreams can come true.

Of course, this battle is far from over. But with your continued commitment, we’ll build on a groundswell of support and take steps to ensure that those seeking freedom from violence, oppression, and tyranny can find shelter here in America.

Thank you for doing all that you can to welcome refugees and asylum seekers to a new life!

Best regards,
Kay Bellor
