Simplifying Grant Access for Small Communities

Smaller governments often face difficulties when applying for federal grant dollars due to the complex, time-consuming and expensive process, while larger cities with bigger budgets can hire teams of grant writers and lobbyists to apply for federal grants, giving them a significant advantage. Last week, I re-introduced the Simplifying Grants Act, to make it easier for small governments serving less than 50,000 people to apply for, receive and manage federal grants. The bill requires agencies to simplify the arduous process for all current and future federal grant opportunities. This will level the playing field and give our smaller communities in Florida and across the country a real opportunity to compete. Click here to learn more.

As a new member of the House Appropriations Committee, Veterans Affairs, and Science, Space, and Technology Committees, it was great to gavel in our first committee meetings of the 118th Congress. During these meetings, Committee rules and Subcommittee Jurisdictions were adopted. I will work with my colleagues to conduct rigorous oversight of taxpayer dollars, ensure our veterans receive needed care, and strengthen our nation's scientific, technological, and economic competitiveness.
