Did you see The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's recent story ([link removed]) on high-powered national investors squeezing out would-be homebuyers? That was the financial clout of private equity at work. Starting March 2, Poynter’s Beat Academy ([link removed]) launches with three sessions to help you crack the private equity code and spot it in your backyard. Attending all three sessions opens the door to apply for a reporting grant of up to $20,000.
That's just the beginning.
Over the span of eight months, Beat Academy will give you roadmaps to spot and tell stories that will drive engagement and have real impact in your community. New ways to cover crime. How to see if your area is getting its share of new federal energy and infrastructure dollars. Examining what the leading federal immigration plans mean for your community.

Our current lineup includes:

🤑 The growing reach of private equity (March 2, 16, 30)
🌊 Preparing for climate change (April 6, 13, 27)
💸 Tracking ARPA/infrastructure funds near you (May 4, 18)
🌎 New immigration patterns and challenges (June 8, 15)
🦺 Bringing a community focus to crime reporting (July 13, 20)
🩺 Health care trends in non-metro areas (Sept. 7, 21)
✅ Misinformation (Oct. 5, 19)

Just $75 gives you access to all of these sessions, though you can tune in to only the ones you need the most. Plus, there are discounts for newsrooms that buy at least five seats in Beat Academy.

Seating is limited, so enroll now ([link removed]) .
