Landmark Conservation Victory!
EPA Protects Alaska’s Bristol Bay from Destructive Pebble Mine

Dear John,

I have amazing news to share. For nearly two decades, Earthworks has worked with our Alaska allies to urge the Environmental Protection Agency to protect the Bristol Bay watershed, which supports the last great salmon runs on Earth, thousands of jobs and the Alaska Tribes and communities that thrive there.

The EPA listened!

Last week, the EPA put limits on mine waste disposal in the rivers, streams and wetlands that feed Bristol Bay to protect the salmon fishery and effectively stop the proposed Pebble Mine. We are grateful to the Alaska Native Tribes who led this effort and everyone who spoke up against this dangerous mine for so many years.

Bristol Bay is a reminder that we win when we all show up, work together and stick with it.

That’s why we’re invested in fights like stopping the Ambler mining road that would cut through Alaska’s Gates of the Arctic National Preserve and protecting communities on the frontline of oil, gas and petrochemical production. Will you consider investing $30 today to help us continue long-term campaigns like the Bristol Bay win

Most of all, we are grateful for you!  Thank you for your emails to the EPA, your contributions to this vital work, and your faith that ultimately this wondrous place would be protected.

In Solidarity,

Bonnie Gestring
