Friend,

It’s Valentine’s Day. The Drug Policy Alliance wants you to know how much we appreciate your support. You are a crucial part of our fight for health, equity, and justice.

Instead of sending you roses to show our gratitude, we thought we’d share some of our favorite reforms that you helped us win recently.

With so much going on, it’s hard to choose, but here are three:

1). MORE Act. We secured the passage of the MORE Act in the House. And we worked on its companion bill, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, the first-ever comprehensive bill in the Senate to repeal prohibition and repair its harms. These are historic steps forward made possible by years of persistent advocacy alongside supporters like you. We need your help to do it again in the new Congress and keep pressure on the Senate to act. Tell your Senators to end federal marijuana prohibition and fully repair the harm it’s caused to our communities.

2). #DecrimPovertyDC. We expanded #DecrimPovertyDC, our campaign to pass legislation in the D.C. Council that would end arrests for personal possession of all drugs and replace harsh criminal penalties with effective health and harm reduction alternatives, clear criminal records, and create 24/7 harm reduction centers. 3). Overdose Prevention Centers. We played a key role in establishing two overdose prevention centers in New York City – the first in the United States. In just over one year they have already reversed more than 700 overdoses. They show the country that a more compassionate and effective approach is possible. Watch our recent webinar: Lessons Learned from the U.S.’s First Sanctioned Overdose Prevention Centers to learn more about these lifesaving operations.

Friend, we will keep moving forward in 2023 and beyond. We won’t stop until we achieve our vision for health, equity, and justice. From all of us at DPA, thank you for being a part of this movement. We are grateful to have you alongside us in this fight.
