Colorado Republicans -
There are a number of bills to fight this legislative session. Some of you have already testified on medical freedom bills and against bills that would take away our 2nd Amendment rights. Today, our legislators debated HB1165 on the floor. The Democrats are working overtime to stop Colorado property owners from hunting or shooting on their own land. Yes, you read that right.
Our Republican leaders are fighting hard for our conservative values, but they need your help testifying down at the Capitol. We can't ever let the Democrats and liberals convince us that our voices don't matter. Some fights are worth never giving up on and truth always needs to be spoken in love. We never know whose mind we change, whose life we save, or which law we stop in its tracks.
This week, I want to give you a heads up on three pro-life bills being heard at the Capitol on February 17th.
HB 23-1119 Abolishing Abortion in Colorado This bill would do exactly what its title says - end abortion in our state.
HB 23-1097 Painkiller Administration Prior to Abortion "The point of this bill is to humanize the baby being aborted who is at 20 weeks or more in gestational growth. While the legislation still allows the evil of abortion to exist, it recognizes the human dignity of the child and hopefully will increase public awareness on the humanity of the preborn child."
HB23-1150 Provide Information on Abortion Pill Reversal "This bill requires that medical providers give information on the abortion pill reversal to any woman who seeks an abortion via an abortion-inducing drug." Many women do not know abortion pill reversal is possible, and that they can stop an abortion if they change their mind in time. Here is a MUST READ story about a Colorado woman who used abortion reversal. She also shared her story (which you can share on social media) with Denver 7.
On Friday, February 17th, all three bills will be heard in HCR 1112 after adjournment (likely at 11am or noon). If you have testimony on how someone can change their mind about an abortion (for HB1150) or testimony that focuses on the fact that every unborn child is a baby (for HB1119 or 1097), that would be amazing. Of course, anything you want to add is welcome as many voices and personal stories are needed on this issue.

In person testimony is most powerful, followed by Zoom. You can sign up for either here: https://www2.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2023A/commsumm.nsf/signIn.xsp
One of our allies writes: "It will likely be a very late evening (last year went to 4am). Last year, the chair of this committee shut down sign-ups at the start of the hearing, so if you were only listed as in-person she wouldn’t allow you to switch to virtual if it got too late for you to stay for the other bills. This is why signing up for both now ensures you are at the top of the list and can switch to virtual if needed."
