Dear John,

Taking my clothes off for money doesn’t make me a less qualified candidate. We all have bills to pay. The stigma against sex workers is archaic and misinformed. I worked as a stripper during college and went on to get two masters degrees.

I left my job in data management on oncology clinical trials in order to focus on running for office. I now make a living on OnlyFans because I still have bills to pay. On top of that, campaigns are expensive, even local campaigns for City Controller, so I am putting some of my own money into our campaign. I don’t have any shame around how I’m making money, especially since it is what’s making this current run for office possible.

Yesterday, I put out some photos from my OnlyFans page to show that anywhere and everywhere, I was getting into the spirit of the Eagles playing in the SuperBowl. A response I got was “the fact we have an onlyfans thot being considered a serious candidate for public office is really giving off late stage Roman Empire vibes.”

I’m so tired of this. This is just one incidence of many, many stigmatized, cruel statements made about my candidacy.

Why would I help elect a hoe?

How do I know you’re not going to have a hoe mentality once in office?

I don’t want my daughters looking up to you.

I looked into your background and it doesn’t appear that you have enough of a science-based background to fit our criteria for support.

I have a masters of science, a masters of public health, I’ve published scientific papers, I’ve done benchwork, I’ve worked in all sorts of roles in the medical field, and I’ve worked in data management on oncology clinical trials (working on oncology clinical trials for data scientists is like playing in the NFL for football players.)

I am a multifaceted human who has simply found an innovative way to pay my bills. My life experiences include becoming financially independent when I was 17 years old and navigating my way over various hurdles to where I am now - which is a candidate for City Controller who is making her living on OnlyFans.

If you want to see more candidates like me and believe that candidates with experiences that better represent the vast majority of us should run for office, please support our campaign to make this run for office possible.

We are running against a machine and stigma and can’t possibly beat both without you.

Alexandra Hunt is a public health researcher, a girls’ soccer coach, an advocate for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, and a community organizer.

She's the daughter of two teachers and a sister to a twin brother with a learning disability. Seeing the systemic obstacles her brother faced inspired Alexandra to become an advocate and challenge barriers on the basis of race, gender, class, and ability.

Now, Alexandra's running to be the Philly's next City Controller because the people in Philly work too hard for too little. And right now, line items in budgets create lines for food and health care. It's time to elect a City Controller who is going to prioritize the needs of the communities Philly's money comes from.
