Here are some updates from the last few days.

Today, an Arizona judge dismissed a Republican lawsuit brought against the Maricopa County recorder and other election officials. The lawsuit alleged that the county, home to Phoenix, violated Arizona law by imposing strict regulations on election workers and making it harder for Republicans to participate in election administration.

On Friday, Feb. 10, the Democratic National Committee moved to intervene in a lawsuit brought by a conservative legal group challenging Racine, Wisconsin's voting van, which is used to create absentee voting sites. The DNC argues that removing the voting van would harm voters.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, North Carolina Republicans introduced a bill that would raise the retirement age for state judges from 72 to 76 years old. If passed, the bill would prevent the state’s next governor from replacing the state Supreme Court’s chief justice and a judge on the court of appeals, the state’s mid-level court.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, Ohio Republicans introduced a bill that would create an election integrity division within the secretary of state’s office. Under this bill, the new division would be responsible for investigating allegations of election fraud and voter suppression, both on its own initiative and based on complaints from the public.

On Monday, Feb. 6, a federal judge in Oregon dismissed three fringe lawsuits against Oregon election officials that challenged the state’s use of electronic voting machines. In their complaints filed in 2022, the plaintiffs argued that the voting machines used in the 2020 election were not properly accredited and as a result deprived voters of the ability to know that their votes were “accurately counted.”
