Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is planning to quadruple the price of its COVID-19 vaccine. (Moderna has made similar noise.)

A few facts:

Pfizer made $37.8 billion from its COVID vaccine in 2022.

The company made another $18.9 billion from Paxlovid, a COVID treatment it has a monopoly on.

All told, COVID drugs accounted for over half of Pfizer’s $100 billion in overall revenue last year.

Yet — despite profiting handsomely from a global pandemic — Pfizer wants to jack up the price of its vaccine from around $30 per dose to as much as $130 per dose.

With billions of people around the world still unvaccinated or not up to date on boosters, how is making the COVID vaccine four times as expensive good for humanity?

A message to Pfizer:

People are still dying every day, all over the world, from COVID-19. Here’s a thought: Instead of jacking up the price of your vaccine, why don’t you make it cheaper or even share the manufacturing technology with developing countries? Instead of thinking about how to make even more profits, think about saving lives and doing the right thing for the sake of humankind.
