John,
Last Thursday, Senators Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) and Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) introduced the Dream Act of 2023. Closely resembling earlier iterations of the Dream Act, this bipartisan bill would provide Dreamers with protection from deportation and an opportunity to
obtain legal status.
If enacted, the Dream Act of 2023 would resolve ongoing legal challenges to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and offer Dreamers permanent legal status, allowing them to continue living and working in the U.S. without fear of deportation.
Urge Congress to pass the Dream Act and provide permanent legal protections for Dreamers.
Approximately 600,000 DACA recipients are living in limbo as they wait for the courts to rule on the legality of the policy. With DACA’s future in doubt, a permanent legislative solution from Congress would finally end the uncertainty that DACA recipients and other Dreamers face, allowing them to continue living in and contributing to the country that is their home.
Dreamers are vital to our communities and need permanent legislative solutions now. With DACA’s temporary protections subject to reversal by future presidential administrations and/or termination by court decisions, Dreamers need Congress to provide the certainty they deserve.
An overwhelming number of Americans from across the political spectrum support legislation from Congress that would provide a permanent solution for Dreamers and let them continue to contribute to our communities. The Dream Act of 2023 is an important, bipartisan effort to provide certainty and stability to DACA recipients and other Dreamers.
Facing threats from the courts, DACA’s days appear to be numbered. Congress must act quickly to provide permanent solutions to Dreamers, who are contributing so much to America. The introduction of the bipartisan Dream Act of
2023 comes at a crucial time and demonstrates that bipartisanship is still possible in this new Congress. We can’t afford to give up hope and we can’t afford to let Dreamers down.
Now, it’s up to Congress to act. Tell Congress to protect Dreamers and support the Dream Act.
Thank you for your support,
