Dear John,
“If we take the action and we do it the right way,
it can actually lift up people who have been looked over and left behind.
It can invigorate an economy that is more just.”
So says Ali Zaidi, National Climate Advisor, describing his commitment to advancing the cause of environmental justice while confronting the climate crisis. Ceres shares this commitment, and we are delighted to announce Ali Zaidi as a Just and Inclusive Economics (JIE) keynote speaker during Ceres Global next month.
At Ceres Global, join leading experts such as Ali Zaidi as we investigate how companies, investors, and policymakers may prepare today for tomorrow’s just, inclusive, and sustainable economy—an economy that will not only benefit society in general, but also investors and companies individually.

Keynote: Clean Energy Investment in Marginalized Communities with the IRA
With Ali Zaidi, National Climate Advisor
Last August, President Joe Biden signed the historic Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law. This monumental law includes more than $370 billion in climate, clean energy, and environmental justice initiatives—the largest federal investment to combat climate change in U.S. history. National Climate Advisor, Ali Zaidi, will speak to the specific opportunities resulting from the law that will directly impact marginalized communities—including financial investment, resource allocation, and direct community engagement. A call to action to Ceres Global participants will highlight the importance of collaboration in reaching our national goals on clean energy investment, sustainable
community infrastructure development, and climate change resilience. |
Keynote: The Impact of Building a Just and Inclusive Economy on Frontline Communities
With Derrick Johnson, President of NAACP
Historically marginalized communities experience the “first and worst” consequences of the climate crisis. By recognizing how continuous and systemic racism impacts health, wealth, prosperity, community operations, and infrastructure, we can begin to understand how racism plays a role in these frontline communities and the challenges they face in adapting to extreme climate-related weather disasters. To transition to a just and inclusive economy, we must understand how frontline communities came to be, what it means to live in them, and what role the public and private sector can play to drive positive change. |
Making the Business Case for Investing in Frontline Communities
With Kate Finn, Executive Director, First Peoples Worldwide, and Rico Frias, Executive Director, Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA)
Despite their invaluable knowledge on sustainability, rich cultural and spiritual teachings, and stewardship of a vast array of natural resources, Indigenous communities have consistently been overlooked and silenced as a partner in the fight against climate change. Similarly, members of the Latine community, representing the largest racial minority group in the U.S., play an outsized role in the economy as taxpayers, consumers, and laborers, and yet, are not often included in the higher level conversations on sustainability. However, the topic is highly relevant to their day-to-day lives. Now is the time that we welcome members of these historically-marginalized communities into an open
dialogue and thought-partnership. |
These are just a few of the many sessions at Ceres Global. We hope you can join us for Ceres Global next month in NYC as we set the course for the accelerated global action needed in the year ahead and beyond to achieve our bold sustainability goals and seize on the enormous opportunities in the transition. |
We look forward to seeing you there!
