Senate GOP leaders said they want to hold debt ceiling negotiations hostage -- a move that could send our economy into crisis and devastate the retirement accounts and Social Security payments of working people -- all so they can slash Social Security. One Republican even suggested raising the retirement age.
Republicans are playing political games with working Americans’ livelihoods and their hard-earned retirements.
No matter what kind of work you do, it has dignity -- and that includes the right to retire with dignity. That’s what the Dignity of Work is all about.
That’s why I’m working to not only protect Social Security for future generations; I’m working to strengthen and expand those benefits for people who count on them -- not just seniors but also children and disabled workers.
