Martin Luther King is one of the greatest human rights activists. We can’t abandon his vision.
John —
Today we celebrate the life of one of our country’s greatest human rights advocates. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his career—and ultimately gave his life—in service to a vision of equality and justice for the dispossessed.

Remembering the leadership and sacrifice of Dr. King today, we must recognize that the struggle for justice and full equality for all Americans is still a work in progress. The 1963 March on Washington was called the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, as Dr. King recognized that civil rights and economic justice are interdependent. Both must both be achieved if America is to be free, and live up to its full potential.
Let’s honor Dr. King’s memory today and commit ourselves to this vision of America. His work isn’t done, and neither is ours.
Yours in this fight,
